Laser Lines & Stitches was born from resilience, reinvention, and a leap of faith.
After a 17-year career with IBM, our Founder and CFO, Brian Johnson, faced an unexpected layoff—an inflection point that challenged not only his career path, but his sense of purpose. With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, a minor in Business, and certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) and SCRUM Master, Brian had built a strong foundation—but the next step wasn’t immediately clear.
After months of searching and reflection, an introduction to a fellow entrepreneur helped shift everything. Through a series of aptitude and personality assessments, one truth stood out: Brian wasn’t just equipped to succeed—he was built to create. With encouragement, clarity, and the unwavering support of his husband, he chose to bet on himself.
On Christmas Eve 2023, Laser Lines & Stitches officially began with the purchase of a single XTool P2 laser machine.
What started as a leap of faith quickly grew into a full-scale creative workshop. Today, our shop includes multiple laser systems, a full sublimation setup, six multi-color 3D printers, and a commercial embroidery operation—each piece expanding our ability to bring custom ideas to life with precision and care.
Co-founder and CEO Michael Johnson plays a vital role in that journey. A proud U.S. Army veteran with 17 years of service, including active duty during the Gulf War, Michael brings discipline, dedication, and heart to everything we do. He holds an Associate degree in Computer Science and serves full-time as an Information Security Advisor Principal at Allianz Life Insurance of North America. In the evenings, he helps drive the business forward—managing inventory, leading the embroidery division, and supporting operations and website development.
