Laser Lines & Stitches was founded out of resilience, reinvention, and a leap of faith. After a 17-year career at IBM, our Founder and CFO, Brian Johnson, was laid off—an unexpected turning point that challenged his sense of purpose. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, a Minor in Business, and certifications as both a Project Management Professional (PMP®) and SCRUM Master, Brian set out to find a new path.
Following months of job searching and self-reflection, Brian was introduced to an entrepreneur who encouraged him to explore a new direction. Through aptitude and personality assessments, it became clear: Brian had the skills, passion, and drive to build something of his own. Inspired by this realization and with the support of his husband, he officially launched Laser Lines & Stitches on Christmas Eve 2023 by purchasing the first XTool P2 laser machine.
Since that first laser arrived, Laser Lines & Stitches has grown into a full-service custom fabrication workshop capable of taking an idea from concept to finished product under one roof. Today, our capabilities include multiple CO₂, diode and fiber laser systems for cutting, engraving and precision metal work; the xTool Apparel Printer for professional direct-to-film apparel production; dedicated UV printing for full-color hard goods; commercial sublimation equipment; a BAi Vision V22-2 15-needle commercial embroidery machine; and a growing 3D-printing farm featuring Bambu Lab printers with multi-material capabilities, including our newest H2S. Together, these technologies allow us to work across wood, acrylic, metal, fabric, apparel, plastics and specialty materials—often combining several processes to create products that simply couldn’t be made with a single machine.
Michael Johnson, Brian’s husband and co-founder, serves as the company’s CEO. A proud Army veteran of 17 years, who was on active duty during the Gulf War and an active member of the American Legion. Michael holds an Associate degree in Computer Science and works full-time as an Information Security Advisor Principal at Allianz Life Insurance of North America. Despite his demanding career, which comes first, Michael plays an active role in the business in the evening, managing inventory, leading the custom embroidery division, and supporting day-to-day operations, which includes website design and maintenance for new products. At Laser Lines & Stitches, we honor our military and first responder communities—values deeply rooted in our personal and professional lives. We are committed to quality craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and integrity. You can trust that we will never create a product that goes against the principles we stand for.
What began with one laser and a willingness to try something new has become a business built around solving creative problems. Some customers come to us knowing exactly what they want; others arrive with little more than an idea, a photograph, or a story they want to preserve. Those are often our favorite projects. Whether we’re creating a one-of-a-kind keepsake, outfitting a local business, developing a new product, or honoring someone’s service or memory, our goal is the same: listen carefully, find the right way to make it, and create something we’re genuinely proud to put our name on.
